# Refactor Monolithic C# Classes with AI

*Select a GitHub repository and a target class. Our AI extracts hidden responsibilities, creates new services, rewires code, validates builds, and opens a PR for you.*

Connect your GitHub repo, select a large C# class, and let AI extract responsibilities, create new services, rewire code, verify builds, and open a pull request automatically.

## How Refactor Assistant Works

### 1. Connect Your GitHub Repo
Enter the repository URL and grant access. The system clones the repo into a secure sandbox.

### 2. Select a Target Class
Choose a large C# class (e.g., >500 lines) you want to split into smaller services.

### 3. AI Analyzes Responsibilities
The model inspects methods, fields, and usage patterns to identify distinct responsibilities and domain concepts.

### 4. Generate Service Classes & Rewire Code
AI creates new service files, moves related methods, updates constructors, injects dependencies, and rewrites callers.

### 5. Verify Build & Tests
The assistant runs `dotnet build` and executes existing unit tests to ensure the refactor does not break functionality.

### 6. Open Pull Request
A new branch with the refactored code is pushed and a PR is opened, ready for review.

## What Can Refactor Assistant Do?

From extracting business logic to creating clean service layers, the AI handles end‑to‑end refactoring.

## FAQ

### Which programming languages are supported?
Currently supports C# (.NET 5‑8) projects. Future versions will add VB.NET and F#.

### Do I need to give full repo access?
Only read access for cloning and write access to a new branch and pull request. No existing branches are modified.

### How does the AI ensure the refactor builds?
After code changes, the assistant runs `dotnet restore`, `dotnet build`, and all project tests in an isolated container. Errors are reported before PR creation.

### Are my source files stored?
All code is processed in-memory within a temporary sandbox and deleted after the session. No source is retained or used for training.

### Can I control how responsibilities are split?
Yes. You can provide hints or specify target service names before the AI generates the refactor plan.
